If you’re a big kid at heart, The Creative Play Facilitator Role could be for you…
We’re really excited to start recruiting for our team of Creative Play Facilitators. Our Play Facilitators will be so important in our efforts to creating a warm, caring and fun loving environment for children to play and fire up their imaginations . If you’re not afraid to be silly, play pretend and throw all your inhibitions out of the window then we’d love to hear from you. Here’s a bit more information about the role, what’s involved and a sense of the type of person we are looking for.
More about the role…
Our sole ambition at The Children’s Play Village to offer a quality play experience for children and our visitors. This role is about sprinkling some playful, imaginary magic as children go about their very important play business, exploring and discovering. The way we’d like to do that is by running pre-defined play sessions that start and end at set times each day, where Play Facilitators take the reigns in initiating and leading pretend, imaginary adventures for children to join in with.
For instance, one of the activities is called ‘What Are We Having For Tea?”. The Play facilitator pops their head into the supermarket and asks if anyone has seen their shopping list:
“It was in my pocket and now I can’t find it. Grandma is coming for tea tonight so I have to find it. I’ll never remember what to buy without my list!”
The Play facilitator then asks children if they can hunt for it to help find it. Realising it is lost, there’s nothing else for it but to write a new shopping list. The Play Facilitator will start to encourage the children who want to join in to share their ideas about what is needed.
Throughout the play session, Play Facilitators will take the lead role in positive interactions with toddlers, reception, pre-school, primary school aged children and beyond to encourage exploration and discovery of all aspects of The Play Village. They will also be responsible for preparing the Play Village and getting ready for the next play session.
Who have you got in mind for this?
This is a role that could suit anyone who loves firing up children’s imaginations. It’s for someone who loves to interact with children, who can become animated, have fun and pretend. This could be of interest to nursery nurses, someone looking to go back to work, childminders looking for a change, those with a performance background or someone who loves to get into character when reading stories to their own children.
We are not looking for a specific set of qualifications or someone from a particular background. For us, this is about finding people who can light others up, aren’t afraid to step into pretend characters who are warm, energetic and engaging.
Is training provided?
Absolutely. Our play programme has been created by an experienced drama teacher, and wonderful lady called Sarah from Pyjama Drama. Sarah will be delivering the training and supporting us throughout as we all learn and ‘grow into our clothes’. There will be an induction period for Sarah to teach the activities and for additional training, there will be some time and space before we open to the public to help get comfortable with the delivery of the play programme.
What are the hours and rate of pay?
We are looking for a team of Creative Play Facilitators that are full time hours, part time hours and sessional staff to cover our opening hours of 9.30am – 6.30pm. We want to be as flexible as we can be for this role to create the right team.
The rate of pay is up to £9.50 per hour (up to £18,300 per annum).
Where is the role based?
The Children’s Play Village is a few miles outside the centre of Warwick on the Hampton Road, A4189.
